Meet Lindsey

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of clinical experience. I specialize in treating OCD and Anxiety disorders.  I am located in Arizona, and hold therapy licenses in Minnesota, New Mexico, and Florida.

Early in my career…

…where I gained invaluable experience that shaped my approach as a therapist. This background provided me with a strong foundation and skill in working with complex cases and co-occurring disorders—helping clients untangle overlapping issues and find a path forward, even when things felt overwhelming and hopeless.

Over time, my work led me to a specialization in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorders. I saw how profoundly OCD could impact a person’s identity, confidence, and connection to themselves—and how often people were misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or dismissed. It became clear that many weren’t getting the help they deserved.

Through BreakingOCD, I’m able to combine my extensive training, lived experience, and passion for this work. Allowing me to provide specialized care that empowers clients to understand their challenges, take control of their lives, and ultimately break free from the patterns that have kept them stuck.  The name reflects my mission: to break through the rigid patterns, confusion, and limitations OCD imposes—so you can reconnect with who you are underneath it.

I believe healing begins with clarity—learning to recognize when OCD is pulling you into a story that doesn’t match your reality, and finding your way back to what feels true and centered. My practice is rooted in the belief that no one is too stuck, too complicated, or beyond help, no matter how long they’ve struggled or how far off recovery might seem.

I’m deeply committed to informing OCD sufferers of the evidence-based options available for treating their OCD. No two people are the same, and neither is their path to recovery. I believe in educating individuals about proven, research-backed approaches and working collaboratively with them to choose the one that best fits their unique needs. My promise is to do everything in my power to support you in overcoming OCD. And if after a consultation you feel I’m not the right fit, I’ll do my best to help you connect with someone who is—because you deserve the right support.

Meet Lottie

Therapy Dog (in the making)

Lottie brings a laid-back approach to mental health - with ears long enough to listen to anyone’s worries, and a heart big enough for everyone she meets. A proud basset hound, she firmly believes that food is the greatest motivator and lives by the motto: It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. She utilizes treatment methods including but not limited to; intense starring, rhythmic snoring and nonverbal encouragement.

When she’s not offering emotional support she can be found expertly napping on the job, using her signature slow-motion zoomies to brighten your day, and reminding everyone that slowing down isn’t the same as giving up.

Your path to freedom from OCD Starts Here

No two journeys with OCD are the same — and neither should your treatment be. I’m deeply committed to helping you understand the proven, research-backed options available so together, we can find the approach that fits your unique needs and goals.

Whether through Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) or Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), my goal is to empower you to reclaim control over your life and reduce the hold OCD has on your everyday experiences. Each approach uses different methods — ERP helps you face anxiety head-on by practicing new ways to respond without compulsions, while I-CBT works to correct the faulty reasoning that drives your compulsive behaviors.

No matter which path you choose, you’ll gain effective tools to manage OCD with confidence and ease — so you can focus on living your life fully, not controlled by OCD.

Ready to find the path that fits you?

Kind words from clients

  • “I'm a 32 year old man who silently struggled with OCD since I was about 13.  I 10/10 recommend Lindsey.

Before Lindsey, I didn't understand what I was dealing with, and didn't understand that I needed someone like her to help me through my struggle.

Lindsey helped me to untangle the web of my thoughts and to see myself and my life more clearly. She takes a steady approach to I-CBT, teaching you about OCD itself, and the common thought patterns that you and others with OCD typically fall into.

She cares, listens, and teaches. One of my favorite things about  Lindsey is that we don't always have to talk about emotions and feelings, sometimes I can just absorb what she says and apply it to my daily life.

If you or a loved one struggles with OCD, I highly recommend you see Lindsey, and I highly recommend you do it now. She truly can help you lead a more fulfilling life.”

  • "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again". These words of wisdom perfectly sum up our sons journey in finding the best of the best in OCD therapy, which is Lindsey Benolken. Past therapist have been good, but with Lindsey, our son has found someone that far surpasses "good". Lindsey is positive and hopeful and for someone living with OCD this makes all the difference in the world. She actually gives her patients and their families hope-which can feel like a much needed lifeline some days!  The care that Lindsey has for her patient feels very personal-she is quick to respond to emails, will set up a zoom with family and if she feels like a family might benefit from a particular podcast, paper or study, she will reach out and suggest it-proof that she  always thinking about her patients and ways in which their lives may be improved! Lindsey has given us true hope, especially our son as he continues to experience improvements  with his OCD through working with her. We are all so truly grateful we found Lindsey!

  • “Lindsey goes above and beyond to help her clients. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to her dedication and wisdom. OCD made me a shell of the person I was before it took over my life - Lindsey helped me rediscover myself. I have worked with her both individually and as a participant in her group sessions. She stays up-to-date on new and emerging treatments, and meets her clients wherever they are on their journey. I know starting treatment can be scary, but it is worth it. Life is beautiful without the cloud of OCD, and I am forever grateful to Lindsey for helping me find the sun once again.”

  • “I cannot say enough about how Lindsey and inference based cognitive behavioral therapy (icbt) literally allowed joy back into my life.  I’ve been battling OCD my whole life, starting intensive outpatient exposure response prevention therapy in college. I met Lindsey when I had my children in my 30s.  OCD made it challenging to enjoy being a mother.  From the moment we started sessions, I saw improvement. Lindsey is so passionate about her work and cares deeply about the success of her clients.  She is personable, funny, and has a genuine warmth that is needed when you are vulnerable and working on challenging things. ICBT was finally a therapy that worked for me! You will not find anyone that is more willing to support your individual needs than Lindsey.”
