OCD Intensives

Personalized, Intensive Support for Lasting Relief

When OCD symptoms feel overwhelming and traditional weekly sessions aren’t enough, an intensive treatment program can provide the focused, specialized care you need to make faster, meaningful progress. I offer personalized OCD intensives using either Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) or Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)—two evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs.

FAQ’s

  • Intensive treatment means meeting with me five days a week, with sessions ranging from 90 minutes up to 3 hours each day. This higher level of care is designed to aggressively target OCD symptoms so you can start feeling relief more quickly, instead of waiting months with traditional outpatient therapy.

The total number of weeks depends on your specific symptoms and severity. For I-CBT intensives, the minimum length is typically 4 weeks, with most clients averaging around 6 weeks. ERP intensives generally run a minimum of 3 weeks, with an average of 4 to 5 weeks. We’ll discuss all of this in more detail during your free phone consultation. If you choose to move forward, the intake session will serve as a comprehensive assessment. I will then provide you with personalized recommendations for your unique intensive, including the length of sessions and number of weeks.

    • You’re discharging from an OCD-specialized residential treatment center and need a step-down level of care that still offers significant support to maintain and build on your progress while returning to your regular life.

    • You know you need a higher level of specialized OCD treatment but are deciding between an intensive or a residential treatment program. My OCD intensive offers a unique option with all one-on-one sessions—no heavy group work like many residential programs.

    • You’re seeking an intensive that uses I-CBT, which is currently not available in residential treatment centers, making this a rare alternative for comprehensive, individualized care.

  • ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is the gold standard for treating OCD across all subtypes. It’s an action-oriented approach where you’ll learn to face anxiety-provoking triggers and practice resisting compulsions—both mental and physical. Alongside ERP, I often incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques to help you accept discomfort and move toward what matters most in your life.

I-CBT (Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a specialized, evidence-based approach focusing on the root cause of OCD—the obsessive reasoning process called Inferential Confusion. Rather than exposures, I-CBT helps you dismantle OCD narratives, resolve doubts, and restore trust in yourself, leading to a natural reduction in compulsions. I currently offer I-CBT intensives both in-person (Arizona residents) and virtually (Arizona, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Florida residents).

    • Your first session will be a comprehensive intake assessment where I’ll evaluate your OCD severity and presentation. This helps me recommend the right length and intensity of treatment for you.

    • All sessions are one-on-one (and family sessions when appropriate) to ensure individualized attention tailored to your needs.

    • Family involvement is encouraged to provide education and support strategies that help you maintain progress and reduce OCD accommodations at home.

    • I offer community and in-home exposures when needed, with a modest travel fee applied only outside a 5-mile radius from my office.

Transitioning from Intensive to Outpatient Care

As you progress, I’ll work with you to gradually decrease session length and frequency, helping you smoothly transition back to standard outpatient therapy while maintaining momentum and long-term success.
